It looks like Senator Barrasso is receiving millions in in kind donations from a right-wing propaganda corporation associated with the oft-wrong American Prosperity. This so called nonprofit is running ads in newspapers across Wyoming making false claims and attributing them to Barrasso.
A little research reveals the group calling themselves “Seniors for Better Care” has no members what-so-ever. They are American Prosperity Alliance doing business as Seniors for Better Care.
American Prosperity Alliance claims to be a nonprofit 501(c)(4) organization working for the social good, as required by the Internal Revenue code for such organizations. They were incorporated in May of 2022 by an anti-democracy law group called Wiley by one of their partners, Thomas Antonucci, seemingly for the sole purpose of misrepresenting actual facts. They made up this fake-grass-roots “Seniors for Better Care” and then posted ads all over Wyoming claiming that changing federal law to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices, like the VA does, will deny my current constituents life saving medication, will reduce R&D on new drugs and dramatically reduce Part D drug plans.
Of course this is patently false; just the opposite is true. They list two footnotes that allegedly provide evidence of these outrageous false claims but the first footnote, #1, refers you to the Trump administration’s Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, Tomas J. Philipson. You may recall him as the guy who downplayed the public health risk and economic threat of the coronavirus pandemic.* His false claims on Medicare were enumerated 09/14/21 according to the Laramie Boomerang ad posted on page A7 in the 08/16/24 edition.
The second footnote refers you to a KFF analysis of changes to Part D. It says nothing about “steep reductions in Part D Plans” other than beneficial reductions in costs to Plan D participants. Do not take my word for it, read the entire article here: https://www.kff.org/medicare/issue-brief/faqs-about-the-inflation-reduction-acts-medicare-drug-price-negotiation-program/
Please do not be fooled by disingenuous fake organizations trying to continue decades-old policy of Americans, especially seniors, paying the highest prices for life-saving medication, in the world! The only reason to make patently false claims about how the Inflation Reduction Act lowers drug prices is to keep the status quo, forcing seniors to choose between their medications and food on the table for obscene drug company profits.
Scott D Morrow, nominee for the United States Senate from the great state of Wyoming.
* Philipson went so far as to question the wearing of masks to slow transmission of the disease, likely leading to hundreds of thousands of totally unnecessary deaths of Americans who made the mistake of believing him.
Barrasso and American Prosperity are lying to you
